<image:title>Greta Gleissner, LCSW - Founder, Chief Operations Officer</image:title>
<image:caption>Greta Gleissner, LCSW (NY 083574), is a therapist who specializes in eating disorders and trauma, In 2013, Greta founded Eating Disorder Recovery Specialists (EDRS)–pioneering an in-home, on-campus, and virtual post-acute therapeutic care and recovery support model for adolescents and adults with eating disorders. EDRS utilizes over 150 recovery specialists, utilizing in-person and virtual recovery support nationwide. Greta’s interest in eating disorders and trauma grew out of her recovery from eating disorders and complex PTSD, which provides her with both a personal and professional lens through which to support clients. Having been a professional dancer, she knew from the age of 16 if she could ever heal from her eating disorder it would be her life’s mission to help others. Shortly after graduate school at New York University, Greta published her first book, Something Spectacular: The True Story of a Rockette’s Battle with Bulimia, a raw, personal chronicle of the devastating effects bulimia had on her personal and professional life during her time as a Radio City Rockette. In addition to founding Eating Disorder Recovery Specialists and Sanctuary, Greta maintains a small private practice on the Upper West Side and is trained in EMDR, CBT, DBT, and Motivational Interviewing.</image:caption>

<image:caption>My aim is to create a warm and compassionate space to meet you where you are and ultimately challenge you to heal. I want to be collaborative and work together to help you grow in the direction of your own values. I believe that you are the author in your story and want to honor your lived experiences. I’m passionate about working to help clients not only overcome obstacles to meet their goals, but also to expand on their existing strengths. I have experience working with adolescents and adults struggling eating disorders, trauma, anxiety, mood disorders and self-harm. I use an integrative approach of CBT, DBT, ACT, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and narrative therapy to meet your specific needs. I approach therapy nonjudgmentally with a feminist, anti-racist, fat-positive, queer-affirming and trauma-informed lens. I am grateful that I get the opportunity to hold your stories, learn with you, experience all the joyful and painful parts of this work with you, and pride myself on providing care that feels safe and affirming. A little about me: I graduated from NYU with my Master’s in Counseling for Mental Health and Wellness. After work you can find me doing my new art hobby of the month (this month it’s figure drawing), learning a Phoebe Bridgers song on guitar, or reading a book at home with my very adorable cat named Pig.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I believe therapy works best when you feel truly seen and understood. My goal is to create a safe, supportive space where you can explore your experiences, build self-awareness, and move toward a more authentic, fulfilling life. Before becoming a therapist, I spent over 30 years as an HR executive, helping people around the world with leadership, relationships, and personal growth. That background enriches my clinical work today, where I support clients in navigating trauma, anxiety, mood challenges, and feelings of being “stuck.” My approach blends psychodynamic insight with practical tools from CBT, DBT, and somatic practices—always with warmth, collaboration, and encouragement. Outside of work, I love cooking, traveling, and spending time with family, friends, and my two dogs, Ruby and Max, who sometimes nap their way into sessions.</image:caption>

<image:caption>I believe that an authentic relationship is the foundation for meaningful therapeutic work, creating a space for healing, growth, and change. I bring warmth, curiosity, compassion, and a commitment to understanding and empowering each person I work with. My approach draws from person-centered therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), psychoanalytic frameworks, and feminist theory, and is tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual. I completed my Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling at Hunter College and have experience working with people navigating trauma, dissociation, PTSD, mood disorders, low self-esteem, and relationship challenges. Everyone deserves the chance to know and understand themselves. My goal is to support you as you identify patterns that keep you feeling stuck, gain a deeper understanding of yourself, and make changes that are important to you. Together, we will work toward fostering a sense of well-being and building healthy relationships with yourself and others.</image:caption>
